CVHS was officially preparing for it’s biggest social event of the year- the Spring Exclusive. The dance was shaping up to be an event so monumental it would be spoken through the school halls for years — or so claimed the members of the student body who luckily purchased their tickets before they sold out.
Ticket sales were through the roof with posters that screamed phrases like “Greatest event of the city!” and “Get your tickets before they sell out!” Teachers even hinted that if someone bought them tickets, their final grade could be boosted. By the end of the week, the dance committee announced that the tickets were not just sold out but oversold.
“I would do anything to be able to get a ticket to the Spring Exclusive. Maybe even hand out some extra credit if someone gave me their ticket,” AP Physics Teacher Harry Williams said.
Rumors spread that CVHS’ gym-a-teria might not be able to handle the overwhelming wave of attendees. Some students even heard there would be rows of red carpets, a bouncer stationed outside the dance doors and a VIP-access section.
The dance committee, lead by the PTO’s Gala Mupta, gathered all the support they could possibly get, including community volunteers from throughout the Houston area. The gym was transformed into an unforgettable wonderland of streamers and string lights. Teachers reported they had rented a fog machine so powerful that it required a license to operate and required active attention the entire night. A professional DJ that was flown in from Ibiza brought in theatrical dancers. The snack table perfectly coordinated with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and mocktails, served by waiters dressed in a suit and tie.
“We spent days coordinating each section of the table with the help of the world-famous Chef Gordon Ramsey,” Mupta said.
By the time the doors opened, the anticipation was felt across campus. The gym lights dimmed and the club-like music started playing. The chaperones took their positions in the corners, closely watching the students and measuring their appropriate distances while students danced to a live performance from celebrity singer Saylor Twift.

The anticipation began to fade as students made their way into the gym-a-teria. Attendees made sure to stop at each photo-op, immediately spamming their instagram stories with fun captions.
“Spring into the night!”, one student captioned.
As the night went on, students and teachers danced to a live performance of the Wobble and played ping pong with their closest friends. Lights flashed throughout the dance floor, nearly blinding some of the super seniors who were able to score a ticket from a freshman. DJ Ibiza reportedly raffled off an all inclusive trip to Ibiza to a lucky group of seniors.
“This is so lit! I guess this is the only to kick off my spring break; in Ibiza with my best friends”, CVHS Senior Mardi Gras said.
The next Monday at school, students flooded their social media feeds with recaps from the exclusive. The event was such a hit, it made headlines on ABC13 as reporters called it the “event that sprung across Houston”.
The CVHS Spring Exclusive became the talk of the town, inspiring other high schools to host their own dance. Celebrities from around the world even contacted the PTO, requesting to headline the next exclusive. CVHS began fundraising for next year’s dance shortly after the Spring Exclusive ended with hopes of making the next one bigger and better.
