Spider-Man: No Way Home- bringing all the Spider-Verses together

Marvel

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the 27th MCU movie released.

*Spoiler warning for Spider-Man: No Way Home

As a fan of Marvel movies, Spider-Man has always been an all-time favorite movie for us. Seeing the masked hero shoot his webs all across the city was always fascinating to watch. When I was a child, my core memories were watching the first and second SpiderMan films, starring Tobey Maguire. I was so obsessed, it continuously grew to the point where I would watch the movies non-stop for weeks. I envied the character’s steel-minded resolve- plus his appearance wasn’t the worst to look at either.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the twenty-seventh film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was also the ninth installment of phase four. When I first heard about the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home, it gave me hope. It gave me the same adrenaline rush from when I first began watching the series. I remember one day when I was scrolling through my social media and came across THE post of the upcoming movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. One post turned into ten, ten turned into thousands. People were constantly uploading comments about the movie on all of their social platforms. The movie scenes played all over my TikTok page, building up the suspense and making it more exciting and convincing for me to go watch it in movie theaters. Over 1.1 million people watched Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters on its opening day, hitting a record of the most people watching one movie in a day at AMC during all of 2020 – 2021.

The film starts with Spiderman’s identity having been exposed across the world. Both Peter Parker’s face and name were exposed. His identity was revealed by Mysterio, the iconic supervillain that first appeared in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Spider-Man: No Way Home brought all three actors who played the live-action versions of the Marvel hero together after years of speculation about a multiverse reunion.  Waegner was ecstatic to assemble, stating that “each of them brought their own style of the franchise and to the big screen for the fans.” Along with the interview, before and after featured an image on the live movie screens of several Peter Parkers, this time depicting two Spider-Men sitting near the Statue of Liberty’s crown. Ned Leeds tried to use the ring they stole from Doctor Strange to teleport to him by saying “Take me to Peter Parker” while spinning his hand like Dr. Strange; but before teleporting to the actual Peter Parker (Tom Holland), Ned Leeds was teleported to two other spider-men (Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield)

The scene made the movie more appealing to watch. Everyone in the movie theater shouted, “OHHHH SH***, AIN’T NO WAY!!!!”. It was so shocking because no one ever expected all three spider-men to come together in one scene.

There are different ways to distinguish between which Spider-Man is which in the movie. Each Peter has their own signatures- different abilities to swing, the way they shoot their webs, different physical proportions, different iconic poses, and also have different suit designs.

Another big draw for the film was featuring all the villains from the past Spider-Man movies, such as Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Electro, the Lizard, Sandman, and Doctor Octopus. Although no one expected all the villains to come out, it made it more interesting to watch and brought more action into it. The most iconic scene from all the villains was with Doctor Octopus, when he says, “Peter, it’s good to see you, dear boy.” After MCU’s Peter repaired the inhibitor chip, the true Otto Octavius appeared, a decent man who never meant to hurt anyone. Otto didn’t want to fight after that; instead, he wanted to help people become complete again, just as he had. It was pretty interesting to watch this scene because although it’s been a long time since we’ve seen both Peter Parker and Doctor Octopus, it is as if the tables have turned around for most of us. Tom Holland’s Peter wanted to give the villains a chance to change for the better, even after learning of the harm they have done. Even after The Green Goblin kills Aunt May, Peter still “cures” him and provides him with another chance to better himself in his own universe.

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter is given two choices where he has to choose between letting an army of Spider-Men invade the universe or making the ultimate sacrifice. While Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men assist Holland, the multiverse’s destiny ultimately lies on his shoulders. Peter resolves to have Doctor Strange erase all memories of himself so that individuals from other worlds won’t be able to visit the MCU. This is when things stirred up a bit and made everyone have a shocking moment. When I saw that Doctor Strange erase everyone’s memories about Peter Parker it made me realize that this was one of the best scenes that I never expected in the whole movie. I was expecting to have a happier ending, but it didn’t happen.

Besides all these crazy scenes that happened throughout the movie, we give it a 10/10. Wonderful action scenes and many surprises were the things that made this movie the best it could be. It was the best action movie to end 2021.
