Quarantine- And How to Survive it
Long days of boredom, fatigue, and lack of motivation have affected many of us who don’t have school or work to go to. Slowing the speed of everyday life can be exhausting and is especially noticeable when you have nothing to do besides lay down and watch Netflix all day after you finish what you have to.
With over a million people infected with Coronavirus, the times of seeing your friends, being social, and going out are gone. Having small get togethers and hangouts are nonexistent, now that this infectious disease is taking the world hostage. Many days are filled with laying down in bed, eating until you can’t take anymore food in, doing chores, and doing small things to keep yourself busy so you wont go insane.
As a CVHS student, I had days where I did absolutely nothing as a break from school that I thought I needed especially after a stressful week at school. Now that time has passed and I’ve done about all I can do inside my house, I’m starting to run out of things to do and boredom is definitely consuming me. I now spend days just on my phone, scrolling through different social media platforms, seeing the news about the world’s situation with COVID-19, and basically repeating the same routine every day of the week. Although the first few days were very relaxing and laid back, I’d say that I would much rather have the time back with my friends and acquaintances even if it meant going back to school.
With more time than ever to find new hobbies and learn different things, now is the best time to do so. During these tough times, it may seem hard to find things to do, whether it be to rid yourself of boredom or to just try something new. We’ll go over ten things that you can do to get through these boring times.
#1: Read a book. This can have many benefits, such as curing your boredom, learning from the book, or even finding something that you may have not known you liked before.
#2: Clean your room. Cleaning your room can take lots of effort and time, but by the time you are done with it, you will have a sense of accomplishment since you put your time into doing something and actually accomplished your goal. an added bonus to cleaning your room is also finding things that you may have forgotten you had, then you have another thing to do.
#3: Make a TikTok. If you are feeling a need to dance, be creative, or just goof off and have something to remember it by, you can make short videos displaying anything that you want.
#4: Play board games with family: This won’t just pass the time, but you will also get to spend quality time with your loved ones.
#5: Find online games to play. Most of the games that you can play online, from a computer or console, have great communities that are open to new players and you can maybe find some new online friends.
#6: Learn something new. Learning is always something that can intrigue you, especially when you are learning what you actually want to learn. Not only will you feel accomplished after learning something new, you might find something that you will want to do as your career in the future.
#7: Go online shopping: Finding a new style or just getting new clothes is something that you can do right from home. If you don’t find something you like, you can always go to the next website and browse their selection of items that you might be interested in.
#8: Cook your favorite foods. Cooking can be therapeutic, fun, and is definitely something you can do to pass the time.
#9: Working out. Workouts are something most people can do from home, since some exercises require no workout equipment whatsoever. Doing this can improve your confidence, appearance, and overall health, and sticking to a routine can benefit the rest of your life for the better.
#10: Find new music. During times of boredom, you might want to put on some tunes and dance the night away. With hours to do anything, finding new music is something that will stick with you for the rest of your life, especially if you can find your new favorite artist or type of music.
Although lots of time has passed, the virus has not gone away completely. It’s expected to last at least a few more weeks, and hopefully ,with safety measures being followed by most people such as social distancing, we can overcome this and come back to normal, everyday, life. This means that all of what we have been experiencing for the past few weeks is just the beginning of what is to come.
